2) The Scriblr Educator

This unique software provides a virtual whiteboard

on which the teacher can write (using the Future

Pen), import documents or pictures, and record all

conversations (the teaching/explaining and questions

and answers from the students) provided that a

microphone is available on the computer.

The Scriblr Educator will allow the educator/teacher to plan recorded sessions by custom-designing an index page(s) in a program like MS Word. This index page and the relevant recordings can then be converted into a SUPERlesson (containing all the players and protection) at the touch of a button.

A SUPERlesson can be burned onto a CD, copied to a flash disk or transferred to the internet, so that students can have the class all over again, at home! Just imagine the convenience when students are absent, or when teachers know that they will be away for a couple of days…!!

All intellectual property will be protected against software piracy.

Observe the following scenario: A teacher transfers knowledge to a class of students, but when the

board is cleaned all that was said and written is gone. Sure, the students could've taken notes but

then the chances are that they didn't follow the discussion diligently in the first place.

The solution would be to have EVERYTHING that is written, and EVERYTHING that is said,

recorded, without time-consuming or expensive infrastructure.

This is exactly what Educator Digital Solutions offers:

Using the Scriblr Educator Program and the Future Pen

(which converts ANY surface, i.e. a classroom wall, into an

interactive whiteboard) the teacher will be teaching like normal

but everything will be recorded: the written stuff as well as the

explanations and questions and answers.

These recordings during normal class-time could be saved as

SUPERlessons at the touch of a button - converting it into a

file that could be transferred immediately to a CD, flash disk

or even the internet, for the benefit of the students. The

SUPERlessons are viewed using the SUPERlesson Player

The Educator Digital Solutions package consists of the

following three components:

1) The Future Pen

This pen looks like a typical rollerball pen, and converts any surface into an interactive "whiteboard" - even

your hand or the floor (for instance for the foundation phase learners) using a data-projector and

laptop/computer.

The Future Pen is effectively acting like a mouse (even though it comes with

its own writing tools and buttons) and can therefore work with any other programs,

i.e. PowerPoint, Excel or even programs like CAD.

3) Digital Support

It is essential that training and support be provided for the Pen and the Scriblr Educator. A User's or Training Manual, or even once-off training, might be sufficient, but we believe that we should provide more…

Therefore the digital support involves on-site visits, during which training will be given and facilitation be provided, or even fault-tracing (in the odd chance that something isn't working as it should). The digital support could also be extended to include assistance for teachers in designing PowerPoint presentations, making pdf-documents or uploading to the internet. Terms and Conditions may apply for the digital support.

The costs involved are split into two sections:

1) The Educator Digital Solution:

For the first Educator Digital Solutions package (excluding digital support) the cost is R4 995. For the next ten sets, the costs are R4 595 each, and from there on it is R4 399 each. Should you wish to purchase the Scriblr Educator as a stand-alone, the sliding scale is R999 for the first computer, R495 per computer for the next ten, and thereafter R350 per computer.

We recommend the digital support, as it provides the following for the lifetime of the unit: Training, Technical support, Software support, Replacement of hardware and Reset of codes, according to the following: Platinum - one on-site visit (could be used for training and technical assistance), telephonic or electronic digital support (use of hardware and software), one replacement of the Pen and remote, one reset of codes (for the first set: R5 150). Diamond - on-site visit (T&C apply), telephonic or electronic digital support (use of hardware and software), one replacement of the Pen and remote, one reset of codes (for the next ten sets: R3 500 per set). Gold - telephonic or electronic digital support (use of hardware and software), one replacement of the Pen and remote, one reset of codes (for sets twelve and on: R2 750 per set). It may not be necessary for all Educator Digital Solutions to have the digital support package - training and support could be bridged across sets - only the replacement parts will not be applicable for sets not attached to a digital support package.

2) SUPERlessons:

Since each SUPERlesson has built-in piracy protection, it speaks for itself that there must be some kind of system that controls and regulates the installations

(It is no problem if the files are copied - it will be useless without a Scriblr code). These Scriblr codes are purchased from EDS at a cost of R35 (VAT excl), after which the Educator or School may put their own mark-up on the codes, before selling it to students. When SUPERLessons are played back in class, there will be no need for a Scriblr Code, though.

Schools may submit the SUPERlessons to EDS for inclusion on the SUPERmarket (also see the Dynamic Short Courses) from where it will be marketed to other schools/students, with the school being paid the profit margin.
